Who We Are

L&DMAS is club for aeroplane builders and flyers. We have about 70-80 members, and operate from a flying field which we own in North Hertfordshire, just outside a little village called Offley, between Luton and Hitchin.

We mainly fly fixed wing, both I.C. and electric, plus gliders and the occasional helicopter.

The Society was inaugurated in 1935, it's believed, and it has run continuously since then. We are affiliated to the BMFA, and have been for many years. The first club newsletter was published in 1937.

We fly from our field throughout the year, with flying allowed 7 days per week, though most members seem to come to the sessions on Thursday afternoons (and evenings in the summer) or on Saturdays. Sunday afternoons are limited to quiet aircraft, so it's then you are more likely to see electrics and gliders without accompanying i/c models.

We welcome new members, experienced or novice, and offer tuition to learners. Most of our members have a BMFA 'A' certificate, with a fair number having 'B's. The rest are learning or just socialising. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer helicopter training.

The club Chairman is Martin Harris; the Secretary is Brian Hilliard and the Treasurer is Barry Ensten. Click This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to contact us. The other Committee Members for 2010 are:
